Yulin : un homme sauve 1000 chiens d'une mort assurée
Durant le festival de Yulin en Chine, où 10.000 chiens sont abattus tous les ans, le militant pour la cause animale Marc Ching sauve 1.000 chiens d'une mort certaine.
Nous vous en parlions la semaine dernière, depuis 2010 se tient tous les ans le festival du chien à Yulin. Pour faire la promotion de cette ville du sud de la Chine, des chiens sont abattus par milliers et la maltraitance y règne en maître. La situation rend la viande de canidé moins chère que celle de boeuf et les habitants n’ont pas de scrupule à manger des broquettes de chien. Des pratiques qui choquent l'occident où ce dernier est considéré comme le meilleur ami de l’homme.
Des paroles aux actes
Situation insoutenable. Pratiques révoltantes. Animaux traumatisés. De nombreuses associations à travers le monde dénoncent ce rituel et la pétition lancée par Humane Society International a reçu 11 millions de signatures sans que rien ne change.

Marc Ching, fondateur de la Fondation Animal Hope and Welness, va plus loin en libérant 1000 chiens de ce triste festival. Le tout relayé en vidéo sur la page Facebook de la fondation. Il explique sa démarche :
People dreamed about this. People signed petitions and protested. People wrote their congressman and government. People filled the streets and stood in unison. Well that dream, it is becoming reality. We have shut down six slaughterhouses, have five pending, and are on our way to visit a dozen more. To those that thought it was impossible - it is becoming possible. For people who cried and screamed into the night, hope remains. The reality of shutting down a festival where 10,000 dogs die, is that you have thousands of lives that need rescue. We cannot do this alone. I have till tomorrow to save the lives that need saving. The world wanted the festival to end, and we are here trying to end it. We need local rescues to step in. I can take 100 dogs, maybe 200. But that is all. Literally we have the smallest foundation on Earth. It is just me and my director Valarie Ianniello. There are groups that are a hundred times greater then we. There are hundreds of organizations that petitioned and stood out in protest. This is the time. Do not desert the cause you asked the world to defend. Do not leave us here by ourselves. En véritable héros, on voit Marc en pleine nuit entrer dans un hangar et libérer des dizaines de chiens de toutes races. Les chiens semblent à moitié conscients. Marc tente de les calmer avant de les confier à des militants qui les placent dans un camion qui les emmènera dans un refuge construit spécialement pour l'occasion.
